The chewables contain the active ingredients Ivermectin and Pyrantel, and are given monthly for the prevention of heartworm disease and for the control of roundworms and hookworms in dogs while the tablets contain Ivermectin only for the prevention of heartworm disease. Unfortunately Heartgard Tablets are not currently available but there are generic alternatives like Nuheart.
